I always loved the fact that the original XFL was supposed to be this hard-ass “no pussies allowed” league where there would be big hits and no fair catches and crunching defenses, and they had to change their rules halfway their their season because the games were unwatchable due to those very characteristics.

This was a really shitty column.

He sounds like a real DK.

You win the internet today. Take your +1 and put your feet up.

I love Ortiz, but Edgar needs to be in first. He was a tremendous player.

Maybe, just maybe, at Head Coach too.

Right? They have no problem electing one-inning closers, but the DH continues to be shunned even though it’s been part of the game for 40+ years.

Yeah, Boston. And God I hope that’s true.

It’s funny, I’ve always enjoyed going to Phillies games when I get down there and generally I’ve had a great time and the fans are fine and funny.

Minnesota was only called for two penalties Sunday night. Those Philly fans must be the worst!

Exactly what I was thinking. Just bring this over, even though it’s not a current model. My goodness I would be all over it like a hobo on a ham sandwich.

Hell, Bill James worked on player arbitration cases for the Hendricks Brothers in the 80s, and wrote that some fans gave him a hard time for trying to get the players more money. His response was along the lines of “Oh, so you’d rather have Gussie Busch or Joan Kroc or Marge Schott keep all that money instead?”

Hey thanks. One of my best friends, a college roommate, was from Buffalo and was avid Bills fan. We roomed together during the 4 SB stretch. I learned a lot about devoted fandom from him during those years.

Was he really that bad there? Honest question.

I remember that play. I think Gilmore thought he had safety help deep.

He texted his ex-Buffalo teammates “Wish You Were Here.”

They changed up his responsibilities to match his strengths. He’s very good in man coverage, but has a difficult time in zone. That was true in Buffalo as well. They let him play his style and we got a really good player throughout the rest of the season.

Thank you for saving me the effort of finding this pic.

C’mon Chris, Belichick actually showed real human emotion at the end of the game! Have a heart.
