I'm great at bullshit. The only thing I don't understand is why the State of the Union is worth bullshitting over. I had no intention of watching it beforehand and happily told people that; it's pretty rare that the president says anything truly shocking in the State of the Union address.

Wait... You can't get a black Barbie in Africa? I distinctly remember getting a black Barbie (in America, in 1992) for my birthday. We clearly have the technology, what in god's name is the holdup?

I don't really feel the need to share my lame ideas with the President; I have the entire Internet to shout at.

I know a very smart genetics researcher who in undergrad was under the impression that they spoke French in England. You're not as far off the mark as you supposed. (I told her to take Geography 101 before she graduated, but there are likely others out there who never got caught.)

I'd totally eat Taco Bell for Valentine's Day! I love it, my boyfriend loves it, what more do you need?

If only we could harness and redistribute the unconditional fervor of all the 13 year old girls up in arms over Justin Bieber...

Honestly almost every medication under the sun does multiple things. You take it for the effect you need, and the rest of the effects are called side effects. I'd recommend thinking of birth control as a side effect of the pill you take to minimize your period. Many, many women take birth control for reasons other

I have a question I'll toss in here just to see what people say. It's technically a family question but it's close enough to friend situations that I think it works.

This intuitively makes sense to me. I believe in a woman's right to choose, but I don't think it is the most pressing issue facing our nation.

I have a weekly gaming group that has been an experience in slowly acclimating non-board game geeks to a variety of different games. Settlers has been one of the gateway games for many of them. I'm surprised Coup hasn't worked though, it's pretty simple isn't it? (Note: I haven't played it because I wasn't aware of it

No one apparently told this to my mother. She was very smart growing up (still is for that matter) but my grandfather thought that college was an awfully expensive way to find a husband, so she never went to college until she was in her 40s. She was determined that the same thing would not happen to her three

I second the TableTop recommendation. And most of the games he covers are pretty beginner friendly.

Oh gosh, there's a lot. I'd recommend trying to figure out what game elements would appeal to you, and then approaching finding the right game from that perspective.

The robber is nothing. You do not yet know betrayal.

It's funny you say that, because in about three hours I have friends coming over to play a couple rounds of Resistance followed by Diplomacy.

Settlers of Catan does not get anyone knifed. Diplomacy is what gets people knifed.

I personally find the overtly hostile ones easy to ignore (although I completely understand why some people don't). However, especially in online gaming, the ones that really bother me are the ones I think I have a friendly online relationship with, which then turns into something ridiculous. Multiple times I have

I don't pay $30k a year in rent, and while the only person calling my apartment luxury is my landlord, I'm having trouble imagining an experience so incredible that I would pay that much for one single night of it.

On an interesting side note, I was thinking this picture looked oddly filtered for a moment until I realized the women were wearing no makeup. I'm so conditioned to expect professional women to wear makeup that the idea you wouldn't paint your face before going to a professional event doesn't enter my mind.

$80 for Target clothes? I thought the point of Target was that you buy it knowing it will fall apart in three months but it's so cheap that's ok. $80 breaks the social contract of cheap crap!
