I didn’t realize auto techs were in a union. Now it makes since why the Chevy tech couldn’t figure out how to fix my car because the “computer didn’t tell him what part to change”, and when they gave me the car back with dirty handprints all over the interior saying “well I’m dirty when I do my job”.  There’s both sorry ass bosses and sorry ass employees out there, and on the other hand, the boss shouldn’t have to pay the employee that didn’t get laid over the weekend so he didn’t do a damn thing all week knowing the union will protect him.

I’ve managed in union environments and in non-union environments. In the non-union environments, great performance was rewarded with opportunities to advance to more skilled jobs and receive more pay. In the union environments, employees would remain in entry level jobs for 15 years doing just enough to not get

Having grown up in a state mostly devoid of unions (Louisiana), the whole union mentality is always strange to me.
