I used to play Discworld MUD, starting off your were by default in the "Adventurer's" guild, basically a non-entity until you chose a proper guild. And, of course, by giving people a choice, many people chose not to join a guild. This basically gave them no advantages in any way, no cheap skills advancement, no guild…

Good luck.. Fallout 2 is an awesome game, played it to death in my teens. The start can be daunting though. I had a similar experience with the starting cave in Fallout 1. Just gotta get a feel for the game and the world is your irradiated oyster.

I know it's cool to hate on CAD, but.. relevant.

Publishing rights reverted from Interplay to Bethesda at the end of last year so it stopped being sold for a while. It's been tweaked and modded a bit to make it play better with modern systems. Using community patches mostly.

I believe these are patched too, at least with the high res-patch and possibly Sfall, 1 and 2 works with Win 8, although Tactics isn't Win 8 compatible for some reason.

Some points from experience as a manager.

Getting through the Pile (tm). Done Thief and Borderlands already. Started The Darkness and Metro: Last Light. Almost done Phoenix Wright. Next up Borderlands 2 (Vita) and maybe Condemned 2.

Possibly the same here. Completely failed to get into Oblivion or Skyrim however.
