I don’t have anything personal against the modern MINI Cooper, it’s fine for what it is, but the Clubman, Countryman, and Paceman are just plain ugly and should never have seen the light of day. Seems that no manufacturer can resist the urge to “diversify” and create crap for the masses just to rake in the $$$.

I just think the concept of Mini, as a brand, is out dated. Back in the late nineties and early naughts, everyone was riding the retro bandwagon. The Prowler, the PT Cruiser, the new Beetle, the Mustang, the Camaro, the HHR, the SSR (WTF).

That’s the trouble. You can’t make the cars people want and still “be a MINI”. People don’t want MINI cars, they want usable sized cars. The MINI should be a model in a brand that doesn’t define the entire class of cars.

BMW forgot what the Mini brand was suppose to be, a small car that is fun a zippy, now we have AWD SUV versions and rolling on 19 inch wheels.

Whatever good may be said about them, they have undeniable cheap ugly shite interiors and I am reliably informed that they start to rattle and creak in short order. I suspect these two facts are related.

A national economic disaster? What hyperbole. Disrupting passenger rail thru NY would certainly be a huge regional headache for the tens of thousands of commuters who depend on it, but they’d find alternative means soon enough, painful as that would be. If these tunnels are so important, then the surrounding states…

You would think that the state taxes from all that money pouring through the north east would be enough to start the project. If it truly does affect that many people, then the states should be making it their top priority.
