@TeamUSA dishonorably tossed a coin to decide its 2018 flag bearer

Kinda? He looks like a major sourpuss.

He comes off like a real tool. Playing to the pedestrian/layman audience that makes up the majority of the Olympic viewers.

I have to side against Davis solely because he used the term “2-peat”. How can a 35yo from Chicago not know that “3-peat” is an extension of “repeat”, not “2-peat”?

“Sore loser” is kind. “Fuck this guy” is the first thing I thought. If this asshole is going to blow up on twitter about how “dishonorably” this was decided (nevermind how fucking disrespectful that is to Erin Hamlin, herself a four-time Olympian) then HOLY SHIT. You’d think sportsmanship would be a factor considered

You’re completely missing the point. The most accomplished athlete does not generally win this particular popularity contest. See: the last two people to win this particular popularity contest.

Did you consider that maybe “accomplishment” isn’t the sole criteria by which their fellow Olympians cast their votes? Did you consider that the last person to carry the American flag at the opening ceremonies (Todd Lodwick) had only won a single silver medal (in a team event, no less) prior to his selection?

When you’re Black ... Excellence means you get a coin flip.

It’s pretty obvious. It comes in a line of passive aggressive comments. I’m saying that it sticks out like a sore thumb in the tweet, and Barry could have addressed it in the article.

1. The fact he’s had more success was not relevant, as he knew prior to the voting.

Fuck him for saying “2-peat”

And he probably tossed away his chance to carry it in the closing by looking like a #TotalCryBaby

I think he’s referring to the #BlackHistoryMonth2018 in Davis’s tweet.

Nah, I’m with you. Barry also looks like a coward for avoiding bringing up the pulling of the race card here also.

Guy just looks like a total asshole. A coin flip has nothing to do with black history month, or race in general.

Using #BlackHistoryMonth2018 was particularly inspired.

Close - it’s whoever dopes more.

The fact that this guy lost fair and square and goes to Twitter to post a flagrantly misleading rant (he implies that the winner was solely decided by a coin flip, not that the flip was used due to a tied vote) is probably a clue to why he failed to gain the respect of enough of his peers to become the flag bearer.

dishonorably tossed a coin to decide its 2018 flag bearer”.

Yeah, probably the wrong decision.
