Doesn’t have to be big or heavy. A cigarette butt can destroy an engine.

True, but it will have enough ash and combustible materials that can be ingested into an engine. Foreign Object Damage takes down plenty of aircraft.

Or less incriminating... all the times I post something on social media (or even something like this very comment) that has a timestamp. I mean, if my boss happened to be on Lifehacker (you could be her for all I know!) it would be pretty hard for me to pretend I was NOT posting on Lifehacker at 3:49 PM on 1/29/18

So the cars doing donuts in the streets weren’t caught. The people shooting fireworks at the helicopter weren’t caught. The people shooting firearms weren’t caught.

You can’t judge these people Erik. Not everyone can afford the safety equipment and fees needed to shine lasers at aircraft at a track. Besides, I bet you once recorded a baseball game without the express written consent of Major League Baseball, so get off your high horse.

I don’t agree with what you said and I don’t agree that you accurately represent what I said.

This is a poor take. One need look no further than the military aspect of this story to see that simply telling people “not to use it” is both foolish and short-sighted.

I’m not a crazy alarmist or anything and I don’t mind sharing some info (probably too much) publicly on the internet, but I really think that people underestimate just how revealing data like this is over time. Outside of identifying military bases (which, lol by the way), it wouldn’t be hard to take a critical look

Actually there is nothing wrong with a fiscally responsible person taking out a 5 year auto loan. If you are fiscally responsible that means you should be getting 2% (or better) rates on that loan because you will have a high FICO score. If someone is going to loan you money for 2%/yr why not use it? There has only

The low interest rate is the only reason to extend the term. And the risk is if you wreck it and it gets totaled out, you’d have to be able to cover the difference. But you are correct, if you’re planning to keep it and you get the next to nothing, or 0%, then it’s a no-brainer to take the free money. But you’d be

60 months is fine if you do it right and keep the cars.

Yeah, sure paying a car off as fast as possible is the best thing to do, right? But if you’re going to keep it until the floor rusts through, then why not spread out the payments a little? By that I mean maybe five years instead of four.

I’ve purchased my vehicles with cheap 60-72 month financing. But I kept one for eight years, another for 12-years and counting with no plans to get rid of it, and the one I replaced the car I got rid of after 8 years I plan to keep for at least another decade.

You avoid it by keeping the vehicle long term and paying down the debt. People are way too fickle about auto purchases, they are a long-term commitment.

I’ve argued about this but I think the concept version although 95% similar was light years ahead compared the production version.

Me 20 years ago: Wow 400 horsepower! That’s more than a Ferrari 355!

The fact that the general public misunderstands the term “autopilot” is probably good reason to not use the term.

But Tesla fanboys will tell you that you’re an idiot because autopilot doesn’t mean the plane can fly itself. So Musk is a genius who named it correctly.

In before Tesla worshippers try to explain that “pilots know that autopilot doesn’t mean that planes fly themselves.” It’s a stupid name from a company known to over promise and under perform.

Carmakers need to just call this “advanced cruise control” or something to that effect. Calling it autopilot just invites this kind of stupidity.
