Oh no, it’s totally legal, that’s why the can was covered in tape, the referees replaced the ball and there is an article on Deadspin.

They’re way too cool to care about something that the vast majority of the country (across all demographics) whole-heartedly enjoys.
That’s because they know they’re going out of business.
If you lived in Houston, you would not be, ‘shaving’ the A/C. No way.
not having A/C? Dude, you obviously don’t live in Houston, where temps can go as high as 110 , not even including the humidity!!!
Soooo all the expensive and hard to find stuff was free, paint was free, and the technical details to get the driveline (again free) running was provided by someone else (for free).
It has taken me that long to repaint wiper arms and install new blades.
Nah, USC parents usually mean wealthy, white, and shops at Tommy Bahamas or that store at South Coast (if they are in OC). They will make sure you know they spent a lot of money for their kid to be near south central.
Upon entering the locker room, Barnes quickly realized that Derek Fisher had already torn that pussy up.
At least Barnes’s commute was shorter this time.
I don't think so Tim.
Has Matt Barnes finally surpassed Ron Artest in terms of sheer insanity?
This is absolutely theft, not a bait and switch. Money changed hands over the car “as-is” at the time of the sale.
“...lesson learned, don’t trust anyone!”
I think you misunderstood Mr. Lehto’s article. “As Is” means you are SOL if the engine blows up 5 minutes after you drive away. It does NOT mean the seller can arbitrarily change out parts on the car between the time the deal is closed and when the buyer takes delivery.
There’s a bit of a difference. He bought the car with the hardtop. As-is is the condition he bought it in, not how it was when the shipper came to pick it up. If the car didn’t have the hardtop and mods when he took title, then it would be a defense, but you can’t steal stuff off the car after the sale and claim…
I don’t understand how someone can buy a car from a stranger, pay him and leave the car with that stranger? Why not just take the car into your possession, go to the transport company and let them keep the car at their lot? I have a problem leaving my groceries unattended. I’m not blaming the buyer, just can’t…
“ The parts were only removed after I had left, a basic BAIT & SWITCH.” A bait and switch is when you go to buy the Honda S2000 and he says he just sold the last one, and he offers you a nice Miata for the same price. In this instance, I think it’s a basic “FRAUD & THEFT”.
“I’ll just leave the car and money here on the other side of the country”
I know it’s a common statement but it bears repeating:
