Here’s the amazing part. Last January I bought a ‘17 Jetta to replace my TDI Sportwagen buyback. The Jetta with all the incentives was just shy of $17k. Which is exactly what I paid for my Honda Civic EX coupe. In 1997!!!
Shouldn’t we be celebrating the fact the people are buying hatchbacks again? The reality is a crossover is merely a hatchback/wagon with a little extra road clearance and the option of AWD. New interior looks great, except for the iPad-on-a-dash.
The front end of the Lincoln is far better looking. The lower fascia is overwrought but the rest of it looks pretty sharp.

Love me some VW, but the build integrity of these older models is so, so sketchy. Broken door handles, bumper caps popping away from the body, windows free-falling into the doors with no warning or provocation....ugh.

I can’t understand why the Germans, so renowned for their engineering acumen, have not made a serious effort towards equaling their Japanese rivals in the reliability department. Also, engineering your cars to make repairs and maintenance easier (read: less costly) to perform.
