As someone with 3 Mazda cars in the household (an RX-8, a Mazdaspeed MX-5, and a 2015 Mazda 6), I’m in complete agreement that the RX brand SHOULD be reserved for rotaries. On the other hand, a RWD I6 sounds fantastic and I don’t think bad branding would prevent me from buying it, as long as it had a stick (my…
This feels like a complete repeat of the Northstar debacle. It too, was an OHC V8 that managed to be less powerful and crucially to its demise, generate more heat and run hotter overall then the LS engines.
GM doesn’t need an OHC V8. It costs too much to develop when the LS (& LT is so good.
That’s odd. I had one of these for a few weeks as a loaner while my car was in the shop for some engine warranty work. I found the 2.0L very willing. Definitely underpowered, but it had excellent throttle response. I spent the first week basically thrashing the thing and it was a willing partner. I eventually…
I think the problem here is not what’s adequate for the normal car. They sell 150k CX-5s a year, and if my parents are any indication, the normal engine IS fine for most people.
I think the biggest question here is what’s going wrong in GM Studio that they’re botching so many designs in the last few years. The Malibu gets an emergency refresh, the Equinox gets a complete redo. The Camaro gets tweaks in the second model year because the SS design was iffy. The Silverado and HD are questionable…
The adoption rate for snow tires is amazingly poor in the lower peninsula.
The best drivers in the world outfit their cars for the conditions.
Weather can definitely account for significant local fluctuations in year-to-year accidents. Some winters are strong and others weak. Given that most of the increased limits are north of Saginaw we need more data. You can’t compare 2018 to 2019 and make any educated statements based on the incident rate alone. You…
This is the crux of the problem. The UAW is a totally corrupt and rotten organization. It’s time to burn it down and create a new one and deliberately exclude anyone attached to the old leadership. The UAW members deserve better.
It’s certainly an embarrassingly forced fit. The only thing we can really conclude is that both values decrease over the same time-frame. The arbitrary right-side axis is awful.
This is a deeply flawed take. I’ve driven a pretty broad variety of cars benchmarking for work and there are some systems that are legitimately unnecessary.
I think very similarly, and continue to root for a more powerful “Mazdaspeed 3", however the Mazda 3 actually lines up almost perfectly with the Audi A3 trim for trim. Nobody’s complaining that it’s only 184 horses, probably because the S3 is an option. It wouldn’t surprise me if that was their benchmark.
I think you’ve just described a Toyota. The corolla might MSRP at just a hair under $20k, but you’ll certainly get a long life out of your base economy car. Despite owning a Mazda6 because I’m very particular about how a car drives, for most people I think the Camry is the deal to get in the mid-size market at ~$25k.…
And now that straight 6 is likely to wind up in a Lexus.
This has so much FD in it, I'd put money down for one in a heartbeat.
The rear end looks like they jammed a mustang into it and then heavily blended out the intersection lines. There’s a mustang in there and it wants out of this homunculus.
Mazda would be inclined to disagree. No touchscreen in the Mazda3 whatsoever. It can be done.
There’s an enclosed landspeeder in the background in A New Hope. Threepio hides behind it after R2 runs away. It’s a V-35: https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/V-35_Courier
In my experience working with GM, their test/development cars and especially pre-production fleet cars usually get snow tires if they’re RWD (did some work on ATS & CTS). It may have been too early in the season and Milford hasn’t up-fit them yet, but I definitely would have checked and wouldn’t have had a Corvette…
Technically, at 175.6" x 69.7" x 52.8" with a 106" wheelbase it’s remarkably close to an RX8. It’s just like a foot taller.
