It's worth noting that ZeR0 is without question the most successful pro player of this iteration of Smash. He's won every major tournament he has attended. He is anti custom moves, because they change the game that he has found success with.

Your 4 abilities are on the face buttons by default. I prefer the scheme that puts 3 spells on LT,LB,RB and Y to ult. RT is auto attack. D pad accesses the store and some simple emotes and pings. Whatever buttons you don't have for spells will use your active items and consumables.

/r/fireteams is one of the good reddits. Just post what you need with your gamertag, and the invites will come to you. People love to “sherpa” new raiders and teach the different encounters.
