VTEC gauge? Really? The VTEC engagement is barely noticeable anyways. Unlike Lift from the Yamaha (yes, Yamaha built the engine, not Toyota) 2ZZ-GE. The Lift egagement is harsher, and more noticeable. But only because the 2ZZ is practically worthless below the Lift Engagement point.
