@Arnheim: Yes I would say, mostly because FF13 just out-right sucks. It's awful. FF6 and Chrono Trigger are my favorite rpgs of all time (I guess that's a pretty generic statement, but its true).

@Arnheim: Interestingly for me I started with Final Fantasy VII (I'm only 21, so yeah) but now I've played all of them and my favorites are 4, 6, and 9, so I imagine my views on the franchise aren't that different than yours, while having a completely different point of entry.

Just bought Soulcaster last night. Man, that game got difficult fast, it's really great though. Such a simple setup allows for such a unique exciting strategy experience.

@Tooner623: Yeah I guess I was sort of ragging on Harrison Ford trying to relive the prime of his career in general, not just the Indy films.

I went the recognizable MMO with the iconic character/scene route.

@PossibleCabbage: On Vanquish, on the demo at least on Xbox, there is an option to turn on "SD TV mode" so maybe they're learning.

First think of how you define a game in general (not just a videogame, any game). A general definition may be something like, participating in an artificially constructed, ruled environment in order to act in that environment towards some objective.

Ahaha, Charles Pratt is my games seminar professor. Cannot wait to see him tomorrow and tell him I saw this on Kotaku. We spent a very sizable chunk of class a few weeks ago debating the definition of "game," and it got way more interesting than I thought it might. Social games did come up to say the least.

I feel like the designers have decided to communally define "best" as "innovative." I wonder what the list would look like if they weren't trying to be so comprehensive of various genres and so bias towards originators and instead simply went with their opinion of the best of those genres.

Christ, is that serious? Has that version actually been aired anywhere?

@Ueziel: I'm glad you love it, I do too. But I've played through the game several times and each time curse those two things. I still personally believe the junctioning system is flawed, at least partially. And there are a lot of awkward moments where characters react, or laugh, when the dialogue is totally uncalled

I want all this Okami(den) merchandise. The slippers, the journal, all of it. Capcom better send some of this stuff state-side in February, though I'm almost sure they won't.

@Sarcasmancer: TWEWY is pretty perfect as it is. Even though I'd buy the sequel day 1, I don't feel it really needs one. Heck playing the game a second time through for all the secret documents added so much to the story it almost felt like it had a built in sequel.

@DocSeuss: Were it not for a horrible translation and the flawed junctioning system, it could stand as one of the better rpg's ever made. At least in this man's opinion.

@Kenny: I find the puzzles extremely rudimentary and tedious. No real thinking involved. And standard shooter gameplay with no story isn't enough for me.

This was pretty cool. Much more exciting than the game, which I'm playing for the first time right now. I'm 8 hours in and incredibly bored.

I posted this in Speakup but couldn't resist also posting it here. We all know the Ni No Kuni PS3 trailer is allegedly the most delightful thing we'll see all week, BUT have you seen the Ni No Kuni 2010 TGS DS trailer?!

@Kovitlac: I might try to fit an Alan Wake playthrough in there before December ;-).
