Honestly, I don’t give a rat’s arse - adaptation is not transcription. There’s also no correlation between quality and how closely they stick to the source material. I’m a huge fan of James Ellroy, and I think L.A. Confidential was not only a damn fine film but one of the best literary adaptations I’ve ever seen.…
