That's because they changed writers at the end or something. The game is wonderful all the way up to that point and then it's just hilariously bad. I still love the game just for everything up to that point.

What upsets me is that a lot of the people that got them aren't even playing them. They're reselling them.

Then I guess the internet needs to be updated. Everything I see states that the federal minimum is 13 with prefectures setting it as 18 for casual sex and 13+ being accepted as long as there is a romantic relationship and the parents are comfortable with it.

To be specific, the federal age is 13, but the prefectures have standards just like america has state laws. 16-18 is the more common variance with regard to casual sex, but 13 is still allowed if it's part of an actual romantic relationship.

To be fair, Japan isn't afraid to flip the sexes in these games.

Also look at some 8 year olds now that you're older. You'll notice they seem a lot younger than you remember. The characters in this game are definitely around the 12 year mark. Which isn't far from Japan's acceptance.
