She’s pure new wave/punk/darkwave to me. That’s how I got into her. I am a huge, HUGE new wave/dark wave/punk fan. When she put out her first album all I could hear were those genre influences in her work. Missing Persons, Siouxsie and the Banshees (and the side band The Creatures) and Kate Bush, just to name a few.
