I like this idea! I basically do this, except I throw 100% of my secondary income at debt - mostly student loans. That frees up my main income for regular life and makes being in debt feel a lot less painful... and allows me to pay it down quickly.

I actually get this vibe a little bit from Thieves' Town in Link Between Worlds. The masked followers are super, super ominous. Wearing masks so monsters can't see you? Eeeeeeek.
