Love the hidden wi-fi options idea. The half-frozen-water-bottle thing, I'm already seasoned veteran. I live in the home of 105* summers, so anybody that's been here for 2 years or longer knowingly carries their ice water bottle around as they navigate their day.

You got Apple, Windows, or Linux. Pick one. Although there are more choices in Linux than with Apple/Windows, it still boils down to 3 choices. I was getting tired of Windows, so I spent 3 years exploring linux, and then made the move to it entirely. It's a command decision.

I compost, too. Great Idea.

My other tip is simply not to do business (if you have that option) with anyone who won't take you seriously.

For recurring numbers, I say the number to myself when I push the dial button. After a few times, the number is remembered. There is some entertainment value in someone asking you for a number and rattling it off without looking it up.

I understand drawing the line when it comes to straight out disrespect or condescending

I love my GV number for stuff like this, and I set it so that you have to identify yourself before it will pass the call to me.

In many ways, email is still inferior to pen and paper.

Embrace the technology.

I can do a lot of things. I can make soap, raise earthworms, teach remedial reading, install an OS, do HTML, and operate with other geek-like skills, but the one skill set that I am so very glad I have, is knowing how to cook. I started when I was a little kid, and by the time I was 14, I was a competent cook.

I haven't read Watership Down yet. I'll put it on my list.

I always use my GV number.

If you want to get hungry reading a book, read the Redwall Series by Brian Jaques. The "people" in his books are animals, but they put on some good banquets! Even if the food is fictional (such as "Meadow Cream" see Oratay Juice below), it still sounds pretty good!

I see no reason to send out a message notifying everyone and their brother that you're trimming your friends list. Just do it. It's your account. You know who you want to keep as "friends". When someone from the far sidelines mentions that they've noticed that they've been "unfriended", you can just say that things

Ick. Not on my To-Do list. . .

Bluehost. I've been with them for several years and have been very happy. I even (politely) berated at them for using a known spamming web tool, and they apologized and changed it for something else.

I'm a Bluefish fan, too, and use it for web design instead of the ubiquitous Dreamweaver. I tried using Quanta Plus for web, but it crashed once I went above basic html/css.

Nice try. It still hurts.

I've never used Photoshop. I started out with Paint Shop Pro (versons 5, 7, 9) and when I migrated to linux, I moved to Gimp. I've been very happy with Gimp, and have been using it professionally for about 4 years. I'm excited about the new upgrades, but since I'm a linux user, the Single Window Mode is not mission
