It looks like soap in the mold above. Lots of soapmakers use silicone molds to mold their soap in.

Looks like you could home-build one of these with pegs and coated wires, if you had the right space above the sink.

LOL!

Meatloaf is one of those things that is dead simple to make. Start with 1 1/2lbs of meat, 3/4 c. oatmeal. Then season it with leftover spaghetti sauce or Lipton Soup Mix, or some kind of cream sauce like cream of mushroom for starters. It's one of those things that you can season many different ways.

+1

It's funny. Somebody else just brought this (Pimsleur) up today.

Pressure cooker food, hands down. I can take a pot of dried beans and have them cooked in just over an hour. A tri-tip roast in about an hour. Chicken soup in 15 minutes. You can brown in it, adding greatly to the flavor. Love my pressure cooker!

I generally make/eat sandwiches (and it's getting close to lunch time, so this topic is making me hungry), but I do have to admit that 'Lunchable' formats are usually neater to eat. This might be important when you are away from your table/desk or in the car.

When I was still using windows I loved Stickies!! Especially the "sleep" feature. Now I use Gnote or Sticky Notes for quick notes in linux, but in the Windows environment, nothing beats Stickies! I still install it on other people's computers and show them how to work it. It's a quick freebie that everyone is happy to

Whether you use Windows or Linux (don't know about Mac), one of the best things you can do to speed yourself along and give your wrists (and believe it or not, your brain) a rest is to learn keyboard shortcuts. Take a minute or two every few days (weeks?) to learn a new one for something that you use all of the time.

Wow. That's pretty high expectations for a 10% tip. I would have thought a 10% tip would be reserved for poor service. I agree that the purpose of the wait staff is to be the liaison between the kitchen and the table, but I find that showing the staff a degree of respect in return for their service brings the best

I've never had the money for Photoshop, so I've never tried using what people think of as the Gold Standard in Graphics Design/Manipulation. In my Windows years, I used Paint Shop Pro, versions 5, 7 & 9. When I switched to Linux, I also switched to Gimp, and have been using that for about 3 years now. I'm content with

I just installed Ubuntu 10.04 on my netbook - the full OS - using the alternate install process. It doesn't leave a lot of room, but I'm going to delete a couple of things to free up a bit more space, and it's mostly for 'net access away from home, anyway.

I'm a remedial reading teacher and I'd prefer that they teach straight, solid reading early on, and skimming later - no earlier than high school. People that have solid reading skills and read for enjoyment as well as for "work", will soon learn to read quickly. Then, if they want to take up speed reading, skimming

Ah, CompuServe was my first online home, too. After I left there, I started using 'Priswell' and while it's possible to track me down and connect me to my real name, I am (nearly) always 'Priswell' on the web.

Can't imagine not having a washer/dryer. If you're in an apartment, you may be able to do fine with the apartment washer/dryer. If you have a house, you must have them, unless you absolutely cannot afford them, and there's always freecycle and Craigslist to get at least something. There's simply too much to do to

The truth is, I'm waaaaaay more likely to have Q-Tips than chopsticks. I buy Q-Tips in the 500 pack, and not a chopstick in sight.

I've used them like this for years. The advantage of the coffee filter over the paper towel is that the coffee filter is usually tougher and can handle a little tugging if it gets stuck onto the food a bit. Also, I've learned to dampen the coffee filter for some foods to keep them from drying out in the microwave.

Pinto beans should not be salted until they are cooked. Salting before they area cook results in tough beans that will never get soft.
