Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse is wonderful, if you’ve not tried it already - it’s a dry oil which comes as-is, or with gold particles for shimmer. It’s lovely on the body (especially legs) or in the hair. Their Reve de Miel lip balm doesn’t do great things for me, but I’ve friends who swear by it; it comes with pigment too

Mine is milder than yours, I suspect. DO moisturise: it can help calm things down. I use blotting sheets just before lunchtime, and that deals with any excess oil.

Totally out to lunch. I can’t remember where I was reading it (I wish I could link to it to reassure you), but it’s one of their most popular items and is here to stay - they’ve just launched a mascara in that colour too.

On days when I’m in a hurry, I forget the brows (I have a fringe, so they’re not really visible), use YSL Fusion Ink foundation, a YSL Glossy Stain on my lips, a cream blush (applied with fingers), eyeshadow primer and the taupe from Tom Ford’s Golden Mink eyeshadow palette (I have hundreds of eyeshadows, but that

I am 40 and only discovered blotting papers last year. Life-changing - no exaggeration.

Seche Vite topcoat and Nails Inc’s Kensington Caviar are the same product, if you can’t find the Sally Hansen one. (Kensington Caviar’s my favourite; seems to last longer before drying out in the bottle, although you can buy a bottle of solvent from Seche Vite which will resurrect gloppy top coats or polishes.)

Get yourself a bottle of Seche Vite top coat - it makes ANY nail polish fast-drying and (no exaggeration) changed my life.

Urban Decay’s X is a wonderful gold shadow, and I’ve never found a dupe from any other brand. It’s almost a melon colour, and it’s SO flattering; I’ve not yet met anyone it doesn’t look fabulous on.

Have you tried the purple Clinique mascara in the same line? It’s called Portly Plum, and it’s wonderful.

That’s so sensible. Can’t believe it never occurred to me. Thanks!

Where I use things across a whole product line, it’s not because I think the things will work together better, but because I’ve found that the whole line is well-made and that I like it a lot. I mostly use Davines haircare - it works well for me, but I don’t use it because it’s matchy-matchy. I’ve also got most of May

Product plug: Japanese hyaluronic acid lotion - by brands like Hada Labo. It’s not a toner, but it looks like one and you use it much like one: pat a few drops into the skin before moisturising. Here it is on Amazon (I’m in the UK, but I’ve linked to the US site because that’ll be useful for more of you.)

How much do you spend on your most spendy makeup or skincare items? And how do you feel about it?

It’s a finishing powder, not a setting powder. It’s the very best I’ve found for giving a lit-from-within look; it doesn’t look “hey, I’m wearing strobe-light powder”, but just somehow, miraculously, healthy and airbrushed and even and gorgeous.

Second the NARS Translucent Crystal. I use the loose powder in the mornings, and after blotting around lunchtime, use the set version with a brush. It’s gorgeous stuff.

Eyeshadow primer (the Urban Decay stuff deserves its reputation) under the concealer, and under your eyeshadow. Then set with a powder.

Sorry you’re having it rough at the moment. That stuff sucks.

No no no no - you MUST get the Guerlain powder. It’s life-changing. And it lasts for YEARS, so the sunk cost really isn’t that bad.

Only one for shadow, one for brows (it’s got a spoolie on the other end, so maybe it counts as two), one for liner, one for highlighter, one for contour, one for blush, and a lip brush for Lip Tar days. I wash them...less often than I should, using the Beauty Blender solid thing, which is a lot like soap but seems to
