Yeah, technically diesels go the way of the belt because they produce enough noise as it is (the injector clatter), so they want to reduce it (and weight) by using a belt instead. It's a ticking bomb though because diesels are all interference (because of the high compression). I've been so close to buying a TDI…

Yeah, I thought about that, but odds are it'll be interference. Remember that new engine technologies are all about high compression and all that. Then again, this is a turbo engine, which doesn't need such high compression, I suppose we'll see..
