Okay, okay.

Seriously? Why the FUCK do people act like having preferences/whatever is such a horrible thing?

Er... I think they know that there are boys and girls earlier than that, obviously, (because they tend to know there are mommies and daddies around, at least, even if they think mommy = woman and daddy = man) but ages 4-7 is when they start to really CARE about gender and consider it a defining part of their own

Iiiiiiiiicccckkkkkkk!

We used to go yacht racing in the good ol' USSR, on the Ob reservoir (sometimes for days at a time).

OH LOOK, IT'S THE FUCKING "OMG, LAYDEEZ WILL GET RAPED IF CAPTURED!!" CARD AGAIN.

Yeah, I'm really with LuckyFrog. BSG is great and all, and they had a fantaaaaaastic take on a different culture (especially in Caprica), but it's a fucking fictional story that's completely made up in somebody's head and played out on screen by actors. I mean, you could just as well cite Wonder Woman about why it's a

Aw, that's sweet. She seemed really happy when she saw it; she might have been a bit of a fan of this guy and his work, so to have him paint her would've definitely been very exciting for her.

You know, it's even easier than that. Try making a few GOOD movies featuring female leads. I mean actually get a director and a crew that passionately care about making that movie as good as humanly possible.

Ah, no, though if that actually happened that puts three on my list.

+1 on all of this.

He got major, MAJOR prop points from me after I watched an interview with him where they talked about The Dark Knight Rises and he spent about a sixth of that interview gushing about how amazing and wonderful Catwoman was as a character, how she was so strong and independent and that really just made her that much

My personal [pessimistic] quote regarding the subject is "trying to advise a woman on how to not "get" sexually assaulted begins and ends at one piece of advice - don't be a woman". Because I don't think I've ever seen a single rape scenario where SOMEONE didn't suggest that the female victim did SOMETHING wrong that

You know, the funny part was that my original comment contained the sentence "You can even throw in a chapter about parents who might raise the girls that go on to become the 1-2% of rapists who are female!" because my [main] title was specifically gender-neutral.

How the hell did you arrive at THIS point after reading my post about why it's not a good idea to post "how to not get raped" advice on a news story about rape? Like, whoa man.

Eeeesh, yeah unfortunately I think it will. The name is already a... well... "bad start".

Sure, go ahead! And no citation necessary really, I'm sure there are lots of people who can express it just as clearly, but in fewer words. :)

Okay, here's the thing (and the reason why people are so touchy against advice for victims - particularly on news articles about a rape case):
