As true as that is, I feel that it's a risk they'll eventually have to take. Better to take a chance and possibly flop than to rest on your laurels and watch your sales decline.
I know, and I fully expect Call of Duty, Assassins's Creed, and any other relatively recent franchise to decline in the next few years.
I'm inclined to disagree. I think the reason (or at least one of the reasons) the Japanese games aren't performing as well is because the big name releases are all sequels in long running franchises. Quite simply we're burnt out and we're looking for something new.
Honestly, I'm more giddy over the fact that Bomberman got its start on MSX than Metal Gear.
