I haven't read all the replies to your comment (so I may be repeating someone else), but the way I interpreted was that this segment was demonstrating what women are thinking already. It's not that she was actually giving women advice, rather she was stating out loud what most women are thinking.

It's not about cultural sensitivity. It's about a history of colonization and colonial interference. A lot of the increased conservatism in many countries doesn't have as much to do with culture as it has to do with a reaction to Western supremacist attitudes. After a long history of the West telling other parts of

Same with me. If I can go bra- and underwear-less I will. So at home it's no bra or underwear for me. Soooo much more comfortable.

I'm actually surprised at the number of people here who have to wear it all the time. If I can not wear underwear I'm not wearing it. Never, ever at night. I can barely sleep with any pants on, let alone underwear.

You might want to brush up on your comprehension skills. You're a good example of something I saw on FB today.

I think, basically, they don't agree with her race. They're using "beliefs" to sound not too racist-y.

So you say that men can't understand misogyny but somehow, you, as a white woman, can understand racism? Right. AND you think that as a white woman you have the right to tell WOC what racism is and isn't. You MUST be trolling. Right? Because there is no way you could be that oblivious to your hypocrisy. If you truly

You mean this website is for white women. Please stop speaking for all women/feminists. Your comment history demonstrates a lot of racism from you so please, only speak for yourself - or perhaps clarify that you only speak for white women.

I wouldn't take ellenjane too seriously when it comes to her supposed speaking for women/feminists. Her comment history shows her to be quite racist and xenophobic, so for her to speaking for all women is pretty rich.

The fact that so many are denying that this was about misogyny is a perfect example of how acceptable and ingrained misogyny really is. So ingrained and acceptable that people can't even recognize it.

But there were ALWAYS crowds to watch the lynching of Black people in the south. In fact, the white people who watched made a picnic of it. Just another fun, Sunday afternoon for those white folks. Nothing is more disgusting than that. And aren't there still viewing galleries for executions here?

Um...that's Arabic. This story is about Pakistan. People in Pakistan don't speak Arabic. As a Pakistani myself I've never heard of "namus." (?)

Agreed. Because as we all know, white is universal and normative. The rest of us are all abnormal who no one can relate to. That assumption that underlies whitewashing is so problematic.

Or it could just be that they're trying to avoid acknowledging his Asian-ness. I think that's more likely.

I agree. It's like they're saying, "Ok, we'll include POC visually but let's totally avoid any reference at all to their non-whiteness. So they need European names." It's what annoys me about Aziz Ansari's character on Parks and Rec. Tom Haverford? I mean, I know there are some Indians with European names (yay

Oh please, enlightened one, do educate me on my own religion. I've been waiting my whole life, as have most Muslims, for someone like you to teach us about our religion. Because we don't have the capacity to learn about it in any other way. Please do tell me what "ummah" and "deen" mean. Please.

Love it! Our world's best Muslim (who we need to keep secret for secret reasons) usually chairs the meetings pretty well. And since we make decisions by consensus it takes FOREVER to come to any decision. Well, actually, not as as long as you'd think since, at the end of the day, we all pretty much think the same way

Why should Muslim nations lead? Why shouldn't Nigeria lead? Are you saying Nigeria doesn't actually need to do anything?

Thank you. I always have to wonder about trolls like the one you addressed and their capacity for rational thinking. I don't think 1.6 billion people constitute "a community." It is such an irrational argument that I can't help but assume it's Islamophobic.

Right....at our next meeting I'll mention it to the other 1.6 billion Muslims. Though, if you could kindly suggest a good venue for our 1.6 billion people meeting it would be appreciated. It can get kinda hard to fit us all into one room sometimes.
