Looking at that second photo it is pretty clear to me this car was lowered and has aftermarket wheels. Perhaps its also been fitted with other aftermarket parts, like a stereo system or even dreaded underglow lighting, that had a fault or was improperly installed and caused the fire.
The SLR was forced upon McLaren based on the reaction from the world press when the Vision SLR concept (designed and produced solely by MBZ) was revealed at the 1999 Detroit Auto Show.
Gordon Murray had a different plan in the works already for a mid-engined offering to be built by McLaren Cars for sale through…
Nothing like that in the planning stages at the moment - no sedans or SUVs either.
All their models will be centered around a carbon chassis as well.
The strong rumor is that the 650s will be a 10-12% increase in costs over the 12C.
Engines in the 12C and P1 are significantly different, despite their similarities on paper.
I've seen the design of the 650s - it's definitely not front engined.
There are significant differences between the Monocell used by the 12C and the Monocage used in the build of the McLaren P1.
Additionally, though on paper the 12C and P1 appear to share an engine that really comes down to displacement and configuration. Examine the two more closely than a spec sheet and you will find…
The MX-04 reminds me of the Just 4/2 concept from BMW.
What you have written isn't even close to an accurate portrayal of what occurred with Vector. The 1,400 HP claim is pretty entertaining too.
The Cizeta and Diablo initially had the same stylist - Marcello Gandini. The Cizeta design was actually solidified and shown to the public a full two years before the Diablo was revealed and Gandini's design for that car was softened by the Chrysler design studio before it reached production.
Moroder was an early financial investor in the project but pulled his support before production began due to delays and lack of confidence. The car was due to be called the Cizeta Moroder V16T before then. He did end up with one of the earliest prototypes which bore his name, the rest of the cars built were simply…
The 650S is not P15.
I'm told that if you call up RLL Racing and they have the time available (say in the off season) they will even let people come by to see the cars and once a month they take them outside to "circulate the fluids". Could be worth calling to ask sometime for anyone else who is local or will be in the area.
I certainly do and understand where it can be beneficial, but this was just a quick snap.
Answered a couple of times in other comment strings, but they operate the flash-to-pass feature on the high beams with the left one and the horn with the right one. Nice part is the driver doesn't have to shift the position of their hands on the wheel to reach either one.
It's kind of funny when you skim that Bio page that was linked above and see him receiving a big check for the result from one of his races for $250. Like "Gee... thanks." ;-)
Happy to help. :-)
The levers are kind of hidden back there - most would never notice them and they are not all that easy to photograph with the steering wheel in place. Here's a shot from my IG account where (despite some windscreen reflections) I was able to catch a glimpse of them with my camera on chassis 018.
One of my cars is mid-engined, weighs 2,215 lbs and has 138-hp - I can break traction if I really try, but not anything like what the F1 is capable of.
Another point worth including - despite being a large V12, the F1s engine is incredibly free revving, as it has no flywheel. The ability to spin it up the the rev…
There's a difference between reality and what you happen think based on watching a couple of YT videos. So no, you did not get that right.
There is one F1 owner who has done just that and uses the rear tires developed for the Ferrari Enzo, pairing that with the same brand/style of front tire that is original equipment on a Porsche 911.
