“I live in alabama and most of our electricity is from coal, natural gas, and gasoline/diesel fuel”
It’s not really complicated.
I love how people say things like “there are still the dirty parts about EV’s no one wants to talk about” when literally every article and comment thread about EVs is chock full of misinformation about how batteries can’t be recycled (they can), or how lithium and rare earth mining is uniquely harmful (it isn’t), or…
Who doesn’t want a Toyota Busyforks?
SMALLER!
Foreign investors and even real estate investment groups should be banned from buying single-family homes. Period. It serves no purpose but to enrich far-away investors, further shrink impacted housing inventories, and make it even harder for real people to buy homes. I have seen a number of homes sold in my…
I don’t think it’s a D/R thing. Democrats need the UAW’s support. And the UAW is all in on trucks and big SUVs, which is Detroit’s bread and butter.
Americans love their big ass trucks.
Very unpopular car opinion: We should heavily dis-incentivize owning large vehicles: require extra licensing to drive them, tax them extra at time of purchase and tax them extra on license renewal.
Owning an SUV or pickup truck should cost significantly more than a normal car (with cut outs for businesses owning…
There’s no shortage of “rare earth metals”. Its a misnomer. These metals are, however, expensive to get out of the earth in this country, but cheaper in other countries. We have plenty of metal in the US, just no will to get it from the ground in a sustainable, practical, economical, and humane way.
If nothing else there should be a weight tax. That translates directly into road maintenance costs independently of whether the vehicle emits smoke from the rear or not.
Europe has a 3500kg (around 7700lbs) limit after which you need a commercial license. Most of the recently announced EV trucks are skirting or outright getting past that limit.
Functioning government?? 😂😅😅
There needs to be a tiered drivers license system in the US. The “walk into the DMV” tier of license should get you something 2800 lbs max, 150 hp max and no power steering. Anything faster or heavier needs some amount of hours of professional instruction.
I have been screaming this forever. Plus we think we have problems with pedestrian and bike deaths now, add another 3,000 pounds to the curb weight and no one has a chance. Plus the idiots driving these will be killing drastically higher numbers of people in reasonably-sized cars.
i think there should be a horsepower tax or speed tax. limit the acceleration rate of a vehicle and cap the speed at 125.
Carmakers: “Batteries are too expensive. We can’t do this!” Also Carmakers, “Check out the size of the battery in our Dodgforeverolet Behemoth, bro! Own the libs! Roll coal EV-sTyLe!!!!11!!1!!”
This is why the EV incentives are powerful. A couple small tweaks to the qualifications aimed at vehicle weight class, or…
Terrestrial radio is still the best means we have for getting information out to a lot of people without relying on highly integrated networks. AM in particular is great because the frequencies and modulation allows for very long distance transmission and over the horizon signal propagation. In an emergency, people…
