Totally agreed. Did you ever see ‘Stealing Beauty’ by Bertolucci? That soundtrack is where I first herd this song and I have loved it ever since. There are some other major gems on that soundtrack too:

Very interesting! Thanks for the background info. My dad drove around NYC and Paterson, NJ in the bad old days (at night!). I wish I could go back in time and ask him about it. It must have been intense.

Are these guys not unionized? My dad was a driver of 18-wheelers in the 80s and 90s, and he was a teamster. My recollection is that it was a pretty stable group of people who were very happy to have good benefits, but he drove locally rather than nationally. Is long-range trucking different?

You do. It is such a bad movie, but he has a just came out of the shower scene that is truly amazing.
