Same here. Is the "Giz Effect" the new "Digg Effect"?

Everyone knows it's not the size of the dog in a fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog. They just need to let him off his leash a bit.

It's obvious you favor the leases. That's fine. But a lease doesn't really give you a true picture, as it's usually based on a lie- that the car will be worth X in 36, 39 months. 9 times out of 10, if not 99 times out of 100, it's not. So you roll into another subsidized lease, and someone, somewhere (the leasing

You'd think, Sam... but have you been out there in retail land lately? You almost wonder if some of these people have a sign like this hanging in their bedroom.

Neutral- I posted this back in March around the time of the first production shutdown. The short answer it that the numbers just don't work. Some people disagreed with my comparisons, and that's okay. This is why I think the Volt fails:

This. I've had discussions with friends before where afterwards, I just had to whip out pen and paper and do the math. The ROI is just too damned long, even with $3.50/gallon gas. The numbers don't work, and they'll never work with a $40K base price.

You know, I don't really know. It's a 75 horsepower bump from the standard V6's 290 HP, and it's got a "sport-tuned" suspension, but everything else is the same- transmission, 20" wheels, etc. The 95 extra lb/ft of torque will no doubt help it in the "get up and go" department, but I don't know if it'd be winning

I said similarities, as in styling cues. I never said you'd mistake one for the other. But it's clear that the Range Rover was one of the influences of the Explorer's designers. And like I said, the Explorer Sport adds the name across the front lip of the hood- another Range Rover design cue.

Whenever something like this comes along, I wander over to http://youarenotaphotographer.com/ and marvel at some of the stuff people manage to do, even with pretty decent cameras.

I've got a 2012 Explorer. Had someone ask me the other day if I'd ever had it off roading. I laughed. Not getting the joke, he said that he noticed the "4WD" badge on the butt. I then had to explain to him that the new platform was shared with the Taurus, and that it was primarily a front-driver.

Ah, a farmer's daughter next to his old truck. Growing up in the midwest, I can tell you those farmers knew how to grow more than just corn!

I likewise was lured in by the promise of "short shorts, and the highest heels on Earth", and was left wanting.

Well, we could compare Europe to the U.S., but we'd have to do so based on more than just the price of a gallon of gas. All things being equal, you probably have some advantages we don't.

Don't forget "The U.S. is currently a net exporter of Gasoline."

Agreed. There may be a lot of oil there, but once it's gone, it's gone. Now is the time to look into alternatives to allow the efficiencies to increase, and economies of scale to bring the prices down.

+1

You're thinking of Samsung as one company when in reality, there are multiple divisions. The LCD manufacturing division (or whatever they call themselves) is going to have targets based on previous years. They raise prices, causing their sales to drop. They miss expectations, lots of people don't get bonuses, and

Well, let him know his list has brought much humor and entertainment to me and other office drones I've known in my life. I'll have to check out the game.

Kidding aside, I believe his phrasing is "Green is for the Money, Gold is for the Honeys".
