I know FOAM!!!!! Arent engineers Freaking amazing. They can take foam and by applying the correct bracing and shaping can make something that is not only rigid enough to carry a payload of cameras and such, but can also fly. Holly crap :)

Yes, so did he have to correct items in place to operate a business in that manner. That is where I think he was reckless. I am guessing that the FAA was not notified and a TFR (Temporary Flight restriction) put in place for a period of time to allow this to happen, along with proof of insurance enough to cover…
ha ha. Please dont take what we are saying is that we want more government. but to focus on this video who ever is driving should pay for the other guys injuries if needed. And I am talking about actual costs and losses, Not this pain and suffering crap. Life is full of pain it makes us stronger. Medical bills…
So you bring up very good points. I will do my best to address them.
My worse nightmare. Then the next thing you know we have gangs of thugs running around doing drive by dive bombings and quad copter attacks.
Some of the jets out there are amazing. I would never trust my self at the sticks with that much money in the air. I hate to add a serious note to this but I think the FAA likes them. They actually like just about anything that flies. It keeps them in business. They just care about having a bit of order to it…
So this is were I currently like how the FAA handles airspace. They have set up areas that you are able to fly and not fly. Generally the not fly areas are there for a reason and tend to make sense. So I do understand that we need some rules, but I think the best way I can address your question is with the answer…
You are very right. There are a lot of what if's and living by "what if" is a crappy way to live because we all end up doing nothing. But stepping out side of your bubble is a whole different item than not taking responsibility for your actions. Sadly we generally end up with many of these stupid rules because…
I agree but now lets put a gopro on the front. Because of this the CG is moved forward and the pilot will either account for it with balancing weight making the craft heavier, or be a bit nose heavy. Bot situations provide for a faster moving craft to maintain lift. Also not instead of a soft front to absorb impact…
From my understanding the FAA is trying to prevent an accident. I would view it as saying speeding should not be illegal if no one gets hurt.
:) Lets test it. YOu stand in the field and we will hit you with one at speed and see how you feel. Just joking actually.
Thank you. Most of this comes from my worry of losing something that I enjoy doing because people not wanting to take the time to understand their actions and possible outcomes.
SO I am not the best at math but will try to figure this out. Lets find the impact force of a gopro moving at 20 mph?
Except that this is not just about other aircraft. This is about everything in the over all picture. Property, people, etc...... Flying over a city with out a spotter can have large consequences. If the pilot lost video signal to the plane there would be very little he could do at that point. There is a much…
Flying RC is a blast and I highly recommend it to anyone. Personally I enjoy larger gliders. For me it is my meditation. Look up your local flying club and go out an join them for a day. Just be warned it is addictive. My daughter and I are getting into making planing out of foam board. Most of the crash so far…
My only hope for all of this is that we address the issues now, before there is an issue. I worry that if we wait till that moment the outcome will not be pleasant for those who enjoy to fly RC or other unregulated aircraft.
You should do a little research on FAA airspace regulations. Mostly take a look at airspace classified as G and E. I am not a fan of not answering question and just leaving holes so here is a few links to help you understand US airspace and what areas are free to be used by just about anyone and what areas are not.
When you said going retro for me this is the first that came to mind. Maybe because I im in love with it. May I introduce the Cessna 195. Built as a company plane for execs to fly out and land on small on site runways. Because everyone will have a run way in the future. :)
Many people look at these little planes and just dont understand how much damage they can do. Even a foam glider can pack a punch.
This is a point that many people are missing. People are controlling crafts. Small or larger doesn't matter. In the air it all plays a part and in the air we all have the same consequences. This is why part of learning how to do anything is also learning about any rules, regulations, penalties, etc. It is part of…
