I will admit I saw the movie in theaters. It was fun, but that's because everyone there knew what to expect. It was a lot like a rifftrax live, with varying results.

I'll wholeheartedly agree with that one. If you haven't, watch smbc's starpocalypse. I can't recommend it enough.

The toy line had a tenuous grasp of "continuity" at best. The original set of toys had a prototype motu story that was a bit more like Conan the Barbarian but as the toy line grew and the cartoon grew in popularity it followed the cartoon's styling much more closely.

Personally I'm glad there isn't. For as many fans that think they could be more faithful to the source material, there's far far less of them that have even the slightest ability to direct & produce a film, even a low budget one.

Speed Racer does not count. It was commercially panned, but when watching it, the movie felt almost exactly like an episode of the show.

Hmmmm....... I should get to that one then.

What I understood on watching it is that they wasted nearly half the movie's budget on Gwildor's room that we were in for approximately 30 seconds.

Fist of the North Star: Take the Giant Muscley Behemoth that is Kenshiro and hire a skinny guy (who to be fair is pretty cool as a martial artist)

Given Machinima and their target audience and budget, I think they know what they're doing.
