I'm passionate about life, and I'm positive about my future. I don't want the world to end, and I'm not wishing for us all to die. And above all, I don't want my life or anyone else's determined by a computer.

So I'm the 'fanatic' because I don't think that any humans immortality is worth the lives of the other 8 billion or so lives on the planet?

Madness is desiring a world where a computer can decide the ultimate fate of mankind.

I'm in no way saying other part of society is any better, but I wouldn't want any particular group making decisions this profound. Bringing about an end to our very way of life should not be placed in the hands of politicians, musicians, or the religious. Scientists are just another subgroup to the whole.

You really think and intelligent AI wouldn't see as a threat? Let's see, human intelligence will continue to expand, and we will have the means to create devastating technology... technology that will be a threat to the super AI's existence. Any glance at our history will tell it that humans cannot be trusted.

Your using human reasoning to rationalize an omnipotent being. Sorry but neither of has any idea what it could actually do. However we can and do have a say in whether or not such and entity should exist, or should be created.

First, I am not white. So your racial argument holds no basis in fact.

Man is not a perfect being, therefore man cannot create perfection. I would not trust a scientist with making my decisions or running my life, so why would I trust the technology that he creates?

Why? It might not see as a threat (wishful thinking mayhaps), but it won't care what happens to us either.

If you don't believe that science has the power to end all life as we know it, and create near demigods... then you haven't been paying attention.

No people like me will likely do our best to preserve are humanity rather then putting up our hands or bowing down to the new super race. I'm pretty sure I'll be vaporized for my efforts, but better to die a free human, then a technological slave.

Hyper Intelligence breeds arrogance, and arrogance leads to ignoring consequences.

I'm assuming thinking about the real possibilities made you uncomfortable, ok. Carry on then, I'll be worrying about on my own then.

...so you want your fate in the hands of an omnipotent computer scientist? Ok.

No, no your not. Your not really ready to hand your fate over to a machine are you? Because as bad as things might be, they ain't that bad.

Sure ignore the old geezer who invented the technology your praising, that'll end well. Man when the singularity comes there's is going to be a lot of I told you so's. We're not talking about skynet. Skynet was an infantile joke compared to what technology will eventually lead. A machine smarter then the combined

You want to like it? Really? Man you really pay too much attention to trailers.

Oh and btw Ominputent power isn't a new Mac, it doesn't just mean someone has a new toy, it means someone can end you and all of the human race with a snap of his fingers, that is too much power for any human , especially one as socially misanthropic as a hardcore computer scientist.

So if you had a scientist on the cusp of near infinite power you think it's ok for him to take said power? Think about that, your willing to give a random scientist, absolute control of your life and that of the whole world? How the hell is that moral? Sorry but I don't care to live in that world, where my very

No, it's anti singularity... Its a movie about a scientist making himself into a god through advanced computer science. Real world note most tech geniuses believe it's only about a decade or two away.
