It's probably the exact same phone but for the American market while the Xperia S is meant to be for the EU market, such as the EU version having no LTE support.
Basically better lenses mean more unique pictures. A different camera lens can allow you to seemingly take a whole different type of photo with the same exact shot. It's really quite interesting.
720p? 1.5ghz dual-core? 12mp camera? Only thing I want to know is the internal memory and ram at this point. Sounds like a pretty sweet phone. Shame my upgrade is like... late summer so this thing will be pretty out of date by then.
