If someone co-opted my art to create something that I considered an abomination of the principles which guided my art, I'd speak up too. Sinead shaved her head to subvert the expectation that she'd sell herself sexually as a female artist only to, twenty years later, watch someone who claims to be inspired by her…
Slut shaming? There's a difference between "Don't act sexual or you're a slut" and "You're being used by a giant corporate machine to make money off of your sexuality". Maybe we could save "slut shaming" for the former and call the latter "good advice".
She didn't inject herself into this for no reason. The open letter was in direct response to Miley's claim that she was paying homage to Nothing Compares 2 U with the Wrecking Ball video.
Like daughter, like mother.
I absolutely loved this. Excellent work. I will definitely be buying a copy of this book, too.
Oh, I must have not seen that part. In that case I'm going to go with Tara Reid. Because who would describe ScarJo as "fading?" I still think it's silly for him to not put the name. It was six years ago, nobody cares.
I loved that he left, too! Did not expect that as I was reading it. Kind of felt like something I would do if I was in his situation. I get Coffin's mixed feelings on the super-quick rise to plastic fame, but I really respect how humble his life is now compared to the moments outlined in his essay.
This was a beautiful piece of insight into someone trying to make something of themselves and discovering what success means for them. I really enjoyed the read.
Who is the blonde actress? I think I can see why he was so cryptic about it, because it was the most interesting thing about the piece? Who was the blonde actress?!!
Jesus christ. This girl is just a cringe machine.
OMG those FEETS!!!
This is me during my biopsychology class.
It was so sad!
Maybe it's just because I grew up a suburban middle-class kid, but I'm always shocked by how open celebrities are about their current drug use. Like, I was raised to believe that you kept your illegal drug use a secret because it was....illegal.
Thanks. I started my game career at LucasArts back in 1997 in Product Support when "Outlaws" came out. After that I moved into QA and eventually Production. "Fracture" was the last game I worked on there. I can add credence to a lot of what you pointed out here. I think I worked under 4 or 5 different presidents…
