For creative non-fiction don't get stuck on the facts. Obvs you don't want to want to get a well-known historical fact wrong. Like, Abraham Lincoln was shot by John Wilkes Booth, not Iron Man. But let's say for example, John Wilkes Booth had a terrible drinking problem and suffered from bouts of Bi-Polar 2, or…

Based on your post, it is not clear what your assignment is. You mentioned non-fiction, and you mentioned research. But then you say that it is an original short story. That's a little confusing. Is it creative non-fiction?
