No I haven't, although I would love to do so one day. The only racing experience I have was riding along in the passenger seat of a Nissan 350z rally car that was being track tested on Zandvoort. I'll never forget how my head was trying to launch itself through the windshield under braking.

I'm guessing it's a sheet of lexan that doesn't break like glass and is also much (ok, a bit) lighter. I heard it just sucks to have pieces of broken glass on a racetrack.

True, but I did see people trying to get away from the water and then driving straight into another wave. This driving away from the water thing is just not as simple as it sounds.
Better not keep the life hammer in your glove box. If you find yourself hanging upside down in your seat belts you'll never reach it. Better keep it somewhere within arm reach distance.
