Unfortunately VLOOKUP is (for reasons that escape me) not 100% reliable, especially with larger datasets. INDEX + MATCH will do the same job more reliably and can also look through columns to the left.

If vlookup wasn’t a thing, you can use index-match instead. It’s a little more flexible (though I prefer vlookups out of habit personally).

Never learned VLOOKUP because I’ve always used Index+Match.

VLOOKUP and Pivot tables rule everything. Sometimes I feel like everything else in Excel is just decoration.
