Always happened to me on Virgin Media in the UK, we had 50mb and later 100mb down and a good torrent etc would pull 5mb/s... but watching a YT video or live streaming TV was often a joke.

Uhmm, I started uploading torrents to tpb in 04, there's no WAY that's the oldest active torrent... although if it is I should go check my old account, maybe one of my own is soon to be the oldest!

Im a programmer and I mostly only type with my two index fingers, and for a long time touch typing was out of the question, I had to look. I'm starting to get better now though, I can touch type for a while once my hands are in a familiar position, and I find myself extending other fingers from time to time to hit

Just a note: Timing belts are expensive because if it snaps it bends the piston rods and can screw the head too, buuut if you have a non-interference engine like me, it doesn't do anything, all you need is a new belt and to retime the engine when you fit it :-)

I use sleep/hibernate extensively, tend to reboot every two weeks or so for updates or some new software install that requires it.

Hahahaha! *Increases donation to Civitas on Kickstarter*

...while I'm at it, can anyone tell me how to embed images/video? Every so often I Google it thinking "this knowledge must exist somewhere", but it seems no one has ever left an explanation in an accessible public place. Even gawkers commenting FAQ apparently contains no mention.

Anyone who loves Police Squad/Naked Gun might like this, I found it a few months ago somewhere. Called 'A Touch of Cloth' and written by Charlie Brooker (if you don't know who he is, by god Google him, everything he does is genius), the first series aired on Sky last year and a second will be airing later this year.

Is that real :-\ what the hell's going on?

Lol, Apple.

Wrong, faulty graphics card that I've used on Win 7 and 8 regularly throws BSODs when you stress it. It does auto reboot, yes, which its doing in the picture (after its dumped the memory), but the BSOD usually stays there for at least 5-10 seconds, and 90% of the time when it boots up again it will show you a message

Holy crap that's awesome. I understand the effect totally, but its still insanely cool to watch.

Called it the other day. They could never have been doing anything game-critical in the cloud because of the inherent latency problems both on the consumers connection and their own server queues... it had to be just social/mp code. Jeez EA, way to uphold your 'sparkling' image.

How long before this design rolls out to all the Gawker sites? Hope you're gonna give me a week or two to find some new sites to read. It's awful, and fyi, in Chrome on android right now having to type at the speed of sludge to get this box to actually accept my text. No no no.

Too late, I've backed Civitas on Kickstarter and assuming it gets finished I will never play this poor excuse for a Simcity game. I'll play SC4 until the Civitas beta is available.

YouTube'd "Chinese raccoon" because they looked cute and I wanted to see them, all the top 10 results are "...being skinned alive" videos, which is lovely. I also found this video with the title/blurb, "Dog fur found in popular clothing brands / Recent tests carries out by the Humane society of America...", posted

Stfu idiot.

All this Simcity talk made me dust off my copy of SC4 the other day, got myself a rocking little city... Why can't we have that game but prettier?

Wow. A few years ago I swore off most Google services because I noticed their attitude changing, and I'm being proved right consistently. Screw you Google, I'm gonna migrate my last holdout service, GMail to Outlook.com before you force me in to G+ for some stupid reason, too.
