I think you're being willfully blind and ahistorical as regards Anonymous. Because, yes, 4chan is exactly where Anonymous-as-a-group and those "rules" come from — even the prototype for the kind of loosely-organized hacktivism most people associate with Anonymous-the-organization was 4chan pranks/harassment.

No, s/he's not wrong.

Except it is the main joke, because it's the primary scenario. That's how sitcoms (situation comedies) work. They come up with a scenario, or situation, around which they build the actual jokes.

Um, antibiotics won't fix it. The glands have to be expressed periodically. A vet or groomer can usually do it. The antibiotics are only to keep the glands from getting infected.

Why, thank you!

I wouldn't go that far. I always enjoyed it, but I identified mostly with Maurice and Roy. When I'm reminded, as sometimes happens, that for many people who share my interests, "geek" means "guy geek", I do think of shows like IT Crowd and ruminate about how media images interact with and inform our perceptions.

I find it funny and like it while also thinking critically about its problematic aspects. For example:

And good catch to you about burning out the hardware. I think I'd seen that mentioned in connection with bios viruses—do you know off the top of your head if that's something that's actually been done realistically or is it still theoretical?

Not to mention the main joke pervading the entire series is that the female boss doesn't know jack shit about computers, specifically contrasting her with her geek employees (who are, of course, male).

That's not entirely true. It's rare, but there are viruses that infect hardware in the sense of infecting firmware or bios. Yes, it's still technically software (it's not as if viral programming can go in and physically rearrange circuits), but even smart people who specialize in this type of thing have bricked

Anonymous is a completely decentralized, self-organizing identity that can be adopted by literally anyone, any time, for any reason. It's a powerful model for organized activism and terrorism, individual activity, or virtual lynch mobs. For this reason, any attempt to characterize Anonymous outside of any particular

Needs to be un-grayed, big time.

Needs to be un-grayed, big time.

I gather that a lot of the time when non-white people say that, they mean that, as a marginalized group, they don't have the power in most contexts to be systemically/institutionally racist the same way as or to the same degree as white people. Since this particular pervasive, especially troublesome type of racism is

No, I'm not Asian. I try not to be creepy about being white to the best of my ability.

Great, I think it's a better burn being true, because then it's not, I presume, a backhanded insult to those in the profession.

Wow

I always wonder that, too. I honestly think for me it is because I've been told to calm down so often for my entire life, even when I was calm as a way of dismissing me.

Are you literally, actually a whore? Either way that's an incisive parenthetical.

It's got to be, right? I watched the other one "At Lunch" and I think the gag must be, these are stupid stereotypes about women exaggerated, isn't it dumb people think this is really how it works?
