Yeah, I thought it was traditional to give a gift of some sort of housewares and possibly some cash if you were a family member. I was raised with the idea that giving cash as a gift was rather lazy and that asking someone or telling someone how much a gift was worth was really tacky.

God. Damn.

I'd just rather not be around kids (or your mother).

It's not that society is composed of a majority of people who think just like him, it's that it should. Basically, the majority of sane, rational, and moral people think just like him. There's a difference.

What drives me crazy is that the powers-that-be are usually happy to offload responsibility to the "next generation". The conversation, IMO, goes nowhere when it focuses exclusively on the need to "encourage young girls" and "bring more women into tech."

One of the Twitter founders went on to found Square, which was called out a while back for having almost no female developers after posting a picture of their interns which were almost (or entirely) exclusively young men, and almost (or entirely) white. The only woman involved was a caterer providing sandwiches to the

I thought the same thing. But then I thought...well, maybe I'm old.

No, I mean waaay before you leave. Not, like, "I'm giving my 2 weeks notice, please give me a recommendation." I mean, when you get your yearly review, or some other time you find to bring it up — before you're even thinking about leaving.

You might if you worked in social media. She's now a channel.

That's why you get your recommendations before you leave. I periodically organize and update my web presence, and when I do I say so and ask for a recommendation.

You've gone from human being to troll.

Stop putting words in my mouth, making assumptions about my lifestyle, telling me how I feel, and insulting my friends.

When I was in high school my father introduced me to the principle, who'd been his teacher when, years ago, he attended the same school.

I don't plan on ever getting married, but I might someday become interested in the aesthetics of weddings.

I was chatting yesterday with a friend. I'd gone to an event of which pictures and video were posted online. I was glancing through and told a friend interested in the event about it. I said, "Found 3 pictures of the back of my head, too."

Things that are illegal are illegal, they are crimes. You get caught doing them, you get arrested for a misdemeanor and it goes on your record. You go to trial, it's because you got arrested.

I will never understand why people feel the need to tell a lady, "noooo, you're not fat" when she lightly or offhandedly states she's overweight.

You obviously don't experience the problem some of us do, where being poked in the bladder makes us urgently aware that we need to tinkle.

Duh, if you're doing it right you have to take all kinds of breaks!
