This actually really concerns me.
I adored the first game, and I loved that you were free to explore the majority of the locations in the game and find all these great hidden little details.
But that always felt like a bonus.
A side dish to the relatively linear narrative that really made the game so fantastic.

If Ancel

You're right that 3d platformers tend to be pretty sub-par, but we have seen some very good ones about since the first game released, and although the first game might have the age excuse, the new game was full of problems that really didn't have much of an excuse for being in there.

The repetitive nature of much of

I'd actually really love to see Ghibli return to some of their more adult films, either those much darker in tone like Grave of the Fireflies or a film simply more visually gruesome and action-oriented like Princess Mononoke.

The last few years it seems they have been focused pretty exclusively on child-friendly films,

I'm actually much more interested in this than I would be another Alice game.
I enjoyed the original and Madness Returns, but they both had some pretty major gameplay issues and could be extremely frustrating at times.

McGee seems to harbour a lot of very talented visual creatives, and given the chance to concentrate

I played and thoroughly enjoyed Last Light.
I'm a big fan of the Metro series, especially the first book.

But I can't even really compare the two.
Last Light had some pretty damn big issues and although the story was good I found it to be really underwhelming when compared to the book and even the first game.

Annoyingly the one suffering was by far the least irritating!

I found most of people in this video highly irritating or dislikable.

But consider this.
The article is talking about a game completely separate to any other franchise.
Cameron was entering a game with expectations in mind and very, very little evidence to back up those expectations, which is something everybody does.
It happens all the times when a films trailer leads to you wanting

I'm aware that the point of the article wasn't to bash on disappointing games.
But it did spawn a string of discussions in the comments about games people had been most disappointed by.
Have a look about on some of the other comments and you'll see more.

If you want to hear what I'd have to offer in reply to the article,

Is the purpose of advertising not to inform and raise awareness?

There is some validity in saying that advertisements can lie, but that is almost universally considered bad advertising and in many cases is even illegal.

Yes, Playstation Access is essentially a form of advertisement for Sony.
But it's a good thing to have.

Of course, Spec Ops did a pretty damn fantastic job.
I still feel that it was tonally very different though.

Spec Ops to me felt much more a commentary on games and violent media and the glorification of violence than anything about real life combat.

To me Modern Warfare didn't even touch upon glorification or media, it

It's not even that I think killing innocent people can't be effecting in a game.
It was just handled so poorly!

The game was completely indifferent to your actions at that point.
Nothing changed if you did or didn't join in with the killing.
The russians you were with didn't get mad at you or kill you if you refused, the

I have two very specific memories of my biggest disappointments in gaming, the most defining one being Modern Warfare 2.

I loved Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare with an intense passion, and it remains one of my favourite games to this day.
I never played much of the multiplayer like most people did, but the story being

I actually think it looks kind of fun...

Excuse me whilst I go hang my head in shame.

They certainly seem to be the more adventurous of the console manufacturers.
They make their mistakes, theres no doubt about that, but they actually seem to listen to fans.
They openly admit when they are wrong about something.
I've heard Jack Tretton and Shuhei Yoshida both make light of the mistakes PlayStation have

It does make me pretty hopeful that they have had this in mind when building up the PSN for PS4!
It seems to me Sony has actually been doing some pretty exciting stuff with digital as of late.
A lot of it seems to get overshadowed though, purely by the fact that it tends to be in pretty small chunks here and there in

Nope, it's getting a disc release.

Sony has been experimenting with cheaper prices in there games for a little while now.
If you look back at some of the Sony exclusives that have come out the last year or two a few of them have launched at a price below the norm.
The last one that comes to mind is Sly Raccoon.

They have
