The article is more than a little tone deaf.

The article is more than a little tone deaf.

I don't have to be as diplomatic as Tom does, the dealers don't respond to your absurdly low offers because you are wasting their fucking time.

On top of that, automakers had a lot of debuts planned that might have goosed sales but are now delayed. That includes the new Land Rover Defender, the new Ford Bronco, and the Aston Martin DBX, alongside recent-ish introductions like the Kia Seltos, Chevy Trailblazer, and the Tesla Model Y.

I am SO SICK of hearing people whine about Cash for Clunkers! NOBODY in the market for a new car today is going to want a rusted-out 1994 Astro van that was one major repair from the junkyard anyway 11 years ago.

If debt cost 10% more people would be driving the only car anyone needs, the Honda Fit. Transaction costs have gone up because the costs of holding the debt have gone down. If you can afford $100 a month then at 10% that is a $3000 car over 36 months. That same $100 is 3500 at 3%. Add a 100,000 mile warranty and

Based on my visit there, it seems everyone drives a Subaru!

None of this surprises me. My brother and sister-in-law are typical, uneducated, working poor. They have two full-size Chevy trucks that they bought used, on 6yr loans (and overpaid for at a dealership). And because they have shitty credit (of course), even with my Mother co-signing they are paying like 12% interest.

I know -- I thought it would be much lower! 🤔

Build ships in non-US shipyards? Fuck you!

Thank you for the explainer on the shady cruise industry. I am going to miss your snark and jalop knowledge. Business Outsider doesn't deserve you.

In my opinion it has a bit of a personality crisis. These is clearly not a sports car.. It is a heavyweight grand tourer. A luxury one. So the agressive looks are missleading.

Because the i8 wasn’t meant to be a flagship that would compete in the HP-wars. It was supposed to be a truly sustainable car, in its production, its engine but also in its overall concept. A sportscar for the post-abundance world, where you can have your cake and eat it too. They did fail because it was riddled with

I think the problem is that BMW overestimated the demand for a “more expensive” 6 Series. They can repeat that the 8 series is not a replacement for the 6 series until they are blue in the face; but they literally filled every niche they had developed with the 6 with the new 8. Ask yourself this question, if BMW did

The dealer industry should all take a field trip to an Apple store.

While I would agree that the dealer system is flawed and ridiculous.

Cannot unsee now.

I mean... if a swastika had five spokes, sure.

Knobs forever! The fact that we’re replacing tactile features for something you can only control by looking at it while you click is not only annoying and unsafe, but completely unsatisfying. If I wanted to play on my tablet I would have stayed on the couch!
