I've seen the wire wheels, I think they only look "right" on later cars, especially post 1924 models. Maybe there's a little money to be made on offering metal wheels that look like wood wheels, for pre-1930 cars. Agreed, but in the context of the era, and without ignoring all the extra baggage that a woman of that period had to go through to do anything, I felt like it made sense to reference her that way.
