Guess we’ll just have to wait and see the final product. Who knew?

Something tells me you’ll be unhappy with whatever the final result is.
“This movie is nothing but endless questions.”
Jesus Christ. Can somebody waterboard this dummy with a fucking bottle of JUST until he admits that he doesn’t know anything? I was 17 and stupid once too, but I didn’t have access to million of dollars, a famous father and 10 million followers to spout nonsense to. This fucking dummy is dangerous.
The point of the costume was to provide an easy way for kids to wear Maui’s tattoos. Maui’s face doesn’t have tattoos, thus they don’t need to change their face.
I can only imagine if Pocahontas came out now. Or Aladdin. Can’t have white kids dressing up as Native Americans or Middle Eastern characters.
No one says blackface is OK. They simply say that blackface is a thing and this isn’t it.
Sorry, it’s totally not. If you’re so convinced it is, why do you think so?
This isn’t blackface, though. Blackface is about using black makeup to portray a rather negative image of colored people. Maui’s costume is about letting kid’s look like a freaking shapeshifting demi-god that happens to include awesome skin tattoos.
Except that this isn’t “racist blackface.” It’s entirely divorced from the tradition, tropes, intent, meaning, methods, and practices of blackface that makes it so shameful.
This appropriating culture mallarky is bullshit. If someone dresses up in a kilt and has a ginger wig on, is it appropriating Scottish culture, and the wig offensive to Scots? No. It’s a costume. Is anyone other than a citizen of the USA dressing as a cowboy offensive? Are Asians dressing up wearing blond or…
If they’d made a white version of the costume, the perpetually outraged minority would be crying whitewashing.
Congratulations.
I’m not Kryptonian, can I wear a Superman costume?
No, but I have seen plenty of white women just up in ARMS over this on Polynesians behalf.
Dont you know its white peoples job to be offended for them? same with indian people and the red skins
Or: Disney gives into people seeing a problem where it does not exist and stops selling a perfectly fine costume that any child of any race should be able to wear.
I have quite a few Polynesian friends, and I asked them about the costume. None of them thought it was problem, but they also didn’t know anything about the movie.
Does anybody have any personal knowledge of Polynesian being offended at costume?
This is probably a mostly false account. The particulars likely happened (i.e., there was an argument on the plane that continued after the plane landed--he probably lost his temper, raising his voice in frustration/anger and may have even displayed physical dominance), but that it rose to the level of abuse is likely…
Also, this is just my take, buy it’s entirely possible that his marriage to Jennifer Aniston was in decline around the time he met Angelina. I’m not saying it’s great if there was in fact some overlap, but also, shit happens. It was also over 10 years ago for God’s sake. Everyone actually involved has moved on.
