That’s because you’re watching in SDR. Proper HDR is more or less a requirement for good GI.

The thing with BOTW is... the map was never all that interesting, right? It’s not Elden Ring where the very geometry can be a source of awe, at least not frequently. BOTW’s sense of exploration was more about what you actually found when you got there, the different interactions and secrets and puzzles etc. etc.

Lotta commenters seem to be missing the point that just because “a series of commercials in which new games are announced/shown off” is what E3 meant to the average consumer, does not mean that’s all E3 was. In that sense, sure, no great loss; but E3 still was—diminished as it may have beena trade show. People

It caught me off too. I played the original but it was ages ago, and it’s not some deeply cherished memory of mine like it was for others.

Unlike you, I actually had positioned myself such that chainsaw man bust in behind me, and sure enough while I was picking off his newly arrived buddies, he put his chainsaw

I mean your wants are, if not in direct conflict, at least orthogonal to mine. I never play Switch in docked mode, ever. If I’m gonna play on a TV its gonna be at 4K120. However, my single biggest ask is significantly better performance in handheld mode. 720p is fine, but I want 60 FPS as the floor, not the ceiling.

Even indies and first party games suffer. Framerate drops affect almost every full 3D Switch game; theyre the rule, not the exception. And 30 FPS as a standard in 2023 for 3D games is basically one prolonged framerate drop in itself.

SMT V, Switch exclusive, nigh unplayable. Astral Chain, Switch exclusive, nigh

Cmon man, seriously? Everyone. Literally everyone who plays games on any other platform in addition to Switch.

540p 30 FPS does not cut it anymore my guy. If Switch could hold a native 720p 60 FPS in handheld mode consistently across titles, the absolute bare minimum we should be expecting for new releases in 2023, I

Where did you hear this cancer business? Have not seen one credible source document any kind of long-term cancer battle, public or otherwise.

Also, you’re making a *ton* of assumptions about their production workflow. From the state of the game shortly before Lightfall, we know aspects of the third and fourth seasons o

That particular comparison is extremely unflattering. Like most RT effects, there are scenes where its barely noticeable, and scenes where it’s completely transformative, and the same applies here. Its RT shadows and RTAO, so no reflections or GI, the latter of which is far and away the most moment to moment impactful

I mean, I respect the effort, but the people I trust least on earth to follow through on their threats are whales. Not to cast too broad or too harsh a net here, but I think we all kind of understand that F2P whaling tends to be pathological behavior. You don’t drop plural stacks grinding up a waifu because You Can

Poor Dreams. Made the incredibly common rookie mistake of Not Being Fortnite.

Sorry bud. If you were a good dude who just got caught up with a bitter ex, there would’ve been coworkers and friends going “I don’t know, that’s not the Justin I know.” not “Jesus Christ of course he did, he’s one of the most abusive creeps I’ve ever met.”

Kinda funny that, aside from infrastructure stuff like tick rate, most of these visual updates will be exclusively for the benefit of people watching casted games, as every single player will immediately set every possible visual option to “no” as they always have.

I mean I’ve run into him 2 or 3 times now and he hasn’t killed me, despite not being particularly well equipped for him either time. After the first instance of trying to go toe to toe with him, as soon as I hear him it becomes immediately apparent my new objective is “survive.” Seems like people playing on Hardcore

Not sure how you meant that, but Game of Thrones is a perfect example of what I’m talking about. HBO wanted more seasons/episodes than 7 and 8, but the showrunners didn’t, so that’s where it ended. They always knew it could outpace the books and were prepared for that. Again, it all comes down to what the showrunners

No. All the creatives involved have stated they have no interest in outpacing the games, or inventing material wholecloth separate from the games. If a Part 3 comes out in a window where its still feasible to continue the show from it (doubtful), then they’ll make one. If not, that’ll be that. HBO does not just order

They’re separate thoughts. The game itself was updated to an era-appropriate but less overtly sexualizing variation on the outfit, which hopefully indicates a willingness to follow broader progression in fashion to be less overtly male-gazey. Doesn’t say it wants RE4 to mix it up, even though “but your fashion doesn’t

The fact that if you release the camera stick while running it will drift all the way to ground level to give you a slightly upward angle at 2B running, despite being wildly impractical for gameplay purposes and obscuring a lot of where you’re going... says a lot. Still enjoyed the game, but hoo boy is the literally

I assume the people who misunderstand the narrative structure of Part 2 enough to think that the (initially) unseen gap between 1 and 2 is just a coincidence to be filled and not a core part of the story being told are also the people who misunderstand Part 1 enough to think that its climax hinges on the particulars

That brings up a core tension they’ve introduced though. Any strand build not using grapple really, really, really wants you to pick up and throw every tangle you see the second you see it. And the strand artifact mods this season all really, really, really want you to shoot every tangle the second you see it.

And yet
