It's completely unnecessary and just asking for attention walking around with such big weapons. Carry a handgun openly all day, for all I care. It has nothing to do with "being a victim" but rather, "look what I can do, and legally get away with while feeling tough."

"Unreasonably afraid" is relative. If there were anybody around me with an AR, or really anything above a BB gun, I would be more afraid than usual.
