All game development is a COMMUNITY. Mods are just as much work as game development, always have been.
Whenever money is involved, legal battles start. It’s about ownership rights. Retaining the right to profit from your work instead of having it stolen. Two modders are working out there differences just fine it looks like.
This is why we can’t have nice things. Someone needs to make a competitive multiplayer game about good character. Or at least teach some of it somewhere. Mankind’s power has increased in every area except over his self-control.
Everyone starts a MOBA as a baby. Treating a baby like shit is hardly the best way to make him grow. Baby’s first MOBA sounds vastly superior to baby’s abusive peers to me.
Give Valve 10% of the profits from your work and leave it at that. Otherwise, this is a good idea. Something overpriced? That’s the modder’s fault; they set the prices.
“I don’t know where to go” and the resulting boredom is the #1 reason that the Adventure game genre died. Yes, I know there are indie games and kickstarter projects, but the genre is dead. EVERY game should tell you where to go after a reasonable delay that allows you to find it yourself (imo)
In Demon’s Souls on PS3 I picked wanderer at the start and one-shotted most things for a while with my speed and damage. That starting sword he gets has such a perfect angle and speed to leave little opening if you’re skilled.
It’s about knowing how long attacks take, range, damage, all the stats. I’m glad that I see things as a list of tactics instead of just an initial presentation. Of course, I don’t always want to research a game to find out if I like the way its tactics are structured...
The real conflict is which parts and how much of the game to show off. The wonder of discovering something new shouldn’t be spoiled imo. This isn’t a competitive multiplayer game where it lists all the rules and has you compete. It’s a world to explore and discover. Deciding which parts and how much to reveal at the…
It’s harder than most games and has no hand-holding. Until you realize that most games have difficulty settings, and you can just play on hard. Extra annoyances like running back to get your souls add to the “difficulty”. But really, all the souls games are easy compared to online competitive multiplayer. That shit is…
So how about that Skullgirls?
Sometimes it feels like entire news postings come from a random idea people have just playing something. Somehow, asking for more insightful posts would probably be offensive. Maybe not.
Prey is underappreciated. And Rune, even though I didn’t get to play it much.
I HATE unlocks in games! There’s always too much grind! I’m always wanting to just have everything from the start and use my creativity, enjoying the game for what it is! Customizability and good gameplay.
Sometimes i feel that they are an infestation that will grow until they overtake us or are actively destroyed (their bad attitudes, not themselves). To quote a fantastic game that I’m playing recently... “What can change the nature of a man?” -Planescape Torment
Oh no, someone mentioned the truth. Let’s all attack him instead of being reasonable human beings! Also, he’s not speaking against feminism. He’s just not. Pushing equality is pushing feminism anyway since our society still has a bias towards men. Equality is the goal, another truth! OH NO, THE TRUTH! IT BUUUUURNS!
I…
Why can’t we just have equal-rights activitsts? I know our society has for a long time and is still biased towards men, but the goal is equality, right? So many different groups on different sides...
Does anyone actually KNOW the facts behind gamer gate? Are we just going by the occasional news post? How do we know it’s not puppeted by someone else? Whether it’s just a few acehulls getting together or something more, I admit that I don’t know all the facts and so should the majority of us imo.
Examples of GamerGate…
It sickens me that "mods" have devolved into cosmetics. These are not mods, they're skins. Truthfully, they're custom MODELS and skins! People have no idea what a mod is anymore... Such a disgusting obsession with functionally-empty cosmetics. Where is the creative game design? Where is the new, interesting…
