This kind of reporting is the reason I pay for Jalopnik Gold.
Glad somebody’s out there doing the real investigative journalism!
The tolerance on the simulated camera weight, which just got a crew chief suspended and fined and wiped out the results of a driver’s race, is ± 100g in a ~1,500,000g car. A driver could add more weight getting the half-bucket of wings instead of a six-piece side. Sometimes, a bureaucrat just needs to justify himself.
Not to be pedantic or anything, but wouldn’t a ‘simulated weight’ imply that its not an ACTUAL weight??
Why don’t they all just have cameras in the cars now?
Cool, cars also now come without build in radio and loudspeakers, but a Concertina (sold separately).
Millions of people, yes. And while it’s certainly not for everyone, dismissing it is silly.
I brought up the Xperia Play during my pre-brief on this and we laughed and laughed.
How is this a gaming phone if it doesn’t have a slide out gamepad like the Xperia Play did? That’s what I want. A new Xperia Play.
$700 is not expensive at all for a phone, and the 2-year extension deals no longer exist.
Not apart from pay in lieu of notice and statutory redundancy payments, no.
That isn’t clear from the stories, but I’d assume that if he were a hired manager, the owners would have immediately appointed an interim manager and kept the doors open. There’s almost always either someone waiting in the wings who thought he could do better than the boss and would relish the chance or someone on the…
Aside from civility to the employees, it would have given the city weeks instead of hours to figure out what to do instead to serve the riders...
When a company has such a high turnover rate that they can only manage to find twats willing to work for them, it most certainly is the bosses fault. It’s not like any company is providing a pension anymore, it’s absolutely the right of the workers to maintain upward mobility by moving on to greener pastures.
The other side of which is to ask himself why his better people kept leaving for greener fields. If he’s stuck with shitty employees, that sucks, but keeping your better people means giving them a reason not to leave. Based on his note here, I’m betting he didn’t give much in that regard.
If a boss is employing “a bunch of twats,” it is by definition the boss’s fault.
Also, not everyone is in a position to save money. The capitalist model functions best when people have savings, but widening inequality and depressed labour wages make this impossible in many cases.
It’s not America - we have things like employment law & statutory notice periods that scale with length of service. So that is what he owes them. He may or may not have got out of it by winding up the company - we’ll see.
Who would expect Nippybus to leave customers out in the cold?
