As someone who grew up with the books, grew up with the films there’s nothing I find less appealing than my generation’s still absurd attachment to this stuff.

Oh yes, I very much agree. The Expanse is one of the best adaptations (and best shows) ever made, and while I don’t agree with every change decision they made, their batting average is really high.

An advantage of a tv adaptation from a book series that’s already complete is that they can make a lot of changes that improve that overall narrative.

That, and (the related) this: “A lot of what makes Wheel Of Time interesting is the almost staggering level of detail in its world-building.”

What exactly is pseudoscientific about giants battling reptilians in an epic battle that sunk a continent beneath the waves millennia ago? I don’t know about you, but information like that is EXACTLY what we need!

This was great! The only possible criticism is that I really hoped being on FX and all would get Donal Logue to make a Terriers reference. Oh well. Can’t have it all.

Agreed! The moderator had a HUGE hand in making Issa look even worse! Like cmon dude.

Also the panel moderator was trash. Not knowing the name of the organizations being represented? And just letting dead air happen after someone’s weird answer? Telling the other’s “that was a really good answer”? He was terrible. How did he get that job?

I read only my second Kim Stanley Robinson novel, Red Moon. (The first was the start of his near future climate change impacts the East Coast trilogy, which I liked but didn’t pick up the other books.)

Had zero interest until read Aisling Bea. Now I have a passing interest but I suspect her substantial comedic talent will go for naught.
