As a guy who loved the hell out of P1 & P2, I feel confident in saying that anyone who feels that P3 & P4 somehow "ruined" the series is a deluded idiot.

Haha, Eva is actually a super Western story to me as so much of it is grounded in Western philosophy/psych. Shinji is like looking in a mirror at times for me, and I think we all know someone a bit like him. Strip away the setting and mechs and I don't think Eva is a good example of a quintessentially Japanese story…
