Not a wink. I would not be surprised if suddenly the Republicans/Trump started caring about the epidemic of gun violence in America. I would, however, be very concerned.

I started commuting to my new job and thought it would be a great time to get into My Favourite Murder.
Me too, man. Me too.
This is the only time ever where I’m like “I’m glad guns laws are so loosey-goosey in America, because an armed uprising against a tyrannical government is starting to look like the only option”
As a Canadian, the clean water thing terrifies me. With the size of our country, our low relative population, small military, proximity to America, and vast amounts of clean fresh water... if things really go sideways, y’all are just going to waltz on in and take what you want.
I’m actually scared of what’s coming.
I didn’t say it was GOOD that Ontario is selling power at a loss, or that it’s worth it to further develop renewable energy sources, I said there is a REASON for it.
This is definitely the argument. However, I am skeptical of this claim, considering it’s all theoretical at this point.
Let me hit these points one by one.
If we buy drugs from American companies for X dollars, I assure you, we will not be exporting them back to America for less than we paid. There will absolutely be profit involved. Just because Canada has a mixed economy, does not mean we’ll extend our socialist-part of it to the US. lol. That’s a ridiculous conclusion.
I don’t even live in the US and I’m in a lather about the past few months. Completely understandable.
I’m not suggesting this is about single-payer. That is not why prescription drugs are cheaper in Canada, as pharmaceuticals are not included in our single-payer system or coverage in any way.
I don’t disagree with you on any particular point. Just offering up a possible reason (while simultaneously suggesting this bill is laughable even if it does have good intentions).
Absolutely, and that’s because the Federal Patented Medicine Prices Review Board negotiates those drug prices down for Canadians, rather than price negotiations being between pharma companies and pharmacies directly.
Fair... and some generics we simply don’t get at all (currently in a battle with my insurance company over coverage because they want me to take a generic of the drug I currently use for cost-savings, and I am trying to get them to understand it is not available in the Canadian market)
It’s called the federal Patented Medicine Prices Review board, and that board enters into all negotiations with drug companies who wish to sell their product to the Canadian market.
The second-to-last paragraph in this article wasn’t a part of the article when I commented, to be fair.
You’re embarrassed for me that I explained this was a stupid bill and the reasons why?
I mean... I am all for this. Canadian companies making money selling American drugs back to America?
Interesting note that lots of people don’t understand: Universal Health Coverage in Canada does not actually include prescription drug coverage.
Fair enough! That probably makes more sense than politicians voting down a bill because it’s a round-about and inefficient way of getting a result they want.
